2017 oil and gas industry awards recognize those who have rendered
outstanding service and made distinguished contributions to the oil and gas
industry.
Awarded
annually by NCMBD, the award is a great opportunity to acknowledge a company or
individual whose outstanding contribution(s) you admire and respect.

As part of the government initiatives to support and sustain
excellence in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry, the Ministerial Industry Award
has been instituted to recognize the outstanding achievements made within the
upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of the Oil and Gas industry. The
Award will celebrate the triumphs and successes of the industry across 2017.
The Award will take place on 19th February 2018 in Abuja.
The Awards Categories are:
Technology and Innovation
This award recognizes a company, project, or service which
showcases an innovative breakthrough for the industry. The technological innovation
must showcase a new and unique concept with regards to innovative-thinking,
quality, and practical considerations within its environment.
Efficiency and cost improvement
This recognizes players in the E&P value chain that have
been able to optimize costs through improvements to achieve a reduction costs.
This organization is able to deliver “same for less” or “more for same”
Social Contribution/CSR
The award is offered in recognition of initiatives aimed at improving
the living conditions of the people in communities local to and impacted by the
oil and gas industry. It provides recognition for an organization that has
achieved outstanding results through key initiatives that demonstrate
leadership, commitment to action and real-world impacts across its business.
Nigerian Content Contribution
The Nigerian Content Contribution Award is awarded to a stakeholder
within the Nigerian oil and gas industry who over the last three (3) years has
implemented strategies and initiatives in-line with the fundamental policy
initiatives of the NOGICD Act through

creation or addition to the Nigerian economy

Development
of Capacity
-
Utilization
of Nigerian human, material resources and services.
HSSE
This award is presented to a company that has made
significant strides in protecting and enhancing the safety environment where it
operates. It recognizes the organization’s commitment to deeply emphasizing on
health, safety and environmental standards.
Media
Partner
This award should recognize innovative journalism, oil and
gas reporting including documentaries, report accuracy, value of content to the
oil and gas industry. The award is open to the electronic and print media.
Largest Oil and Gas Investor
This award is reserved for the industry player who has
provided significant investments to further drive growth within the oil and gas
industry.
Largest Oil/Gas syndicated Loan/
Deal of the year
This award is reserved for the investment bank/private
equity houses that has been the most supportive in arranging/putting together
the biggest loan syndication to support the growth or advancement of the oil
and gas industry in the past year.

- Nominations may be submitted either directly from a company (self nomination), or from a third party.
- Nominations for the various award must be carried out on the portal only. No entry should be printed and submitted in hard copy to the Ministry or any of its agencies
- All nominations are expected to be supported by citation / evidence to explain the reason(s) for nomination. The evaluation council will review these evidence(s) against the established criteria as a basis for selecting the finalists for the different categories
- The criteria against which all nominees will be judged are explained below and should be read carefully before developing the evidence to support the nomination
- The various awards categories will be awarded along the industry segments as highlighted in the table below. For example: Technology and Innovation Award will be presented to an International Company as well as a National Company (the national company may be an operator or a service company)

entries will be judged along the four criteria listed below:

Opportunity,
concept, method and development

a need and solve a problem; sieze an opportunity and create a new market or industry.

the concept and opportunity.

Clarity on how discovery, collaboration,
iteration, prototyping etc contributed to the conception and development of the
innovation across the development lifecycle.

Need/desire, differentiation, cost and
advantage

How the project/initiative/service
satisfies an existing need or desire.

How the offering is different and
whether it has distinct, game changing advantages over any alternatives.

Message, engagement, availability and
achievement

How the message and broader story of the
project/initiative/service is communicated in clear and compelling ways.

EVALUATION
COUNCIL
The
evaluation council will be the judging system for the awards; evaluating the
nominations. They will apply a uniform scoring standard across the various
award categories. They have been carefully selected ensuring relevant expertise
whilst avoiding any conflicts of interest with any of the industry
players/potential nominees.

COMPOSITION
The
evaluation council is composed of senior individuals from oil and gas companies
spanning the industry from IOCs, to indigenous players, academic institutions,
reputable media practitioners/energy columnist/correspondents and their other
professionals.
·
EXPERTISE
As
leading experts in their fields, the members provide a dedicated level of
evaluation which narrows all the entries to a final selection.
·
OBJECTIVITY
AND INDEPENDENCE
The
members are objective, respected in society and knowledgeable of the various
categories they are scoring.
